Before you sponsor
What does “first sponsor” mean?
It means the student does not yet have a personal sponsor relationship through the STARS program. This campaign is focused on helping every currently unsponsored student receive their first personal sponsor.
Why can’t I choose my student?
Because every student deserves dignity. Rather than being selected from a list, students are thoughtfully matched with sponsors based on survey responses, shared interests, and current needs.
Does one sponsor fully fund a student?
You know the saying: it takes a village to raise a child. Each student is supported by a small circle of sponsors — in fact, it takes four sponsors to fully sponsor one student, which is exactly why every sponsor is so important and critical. Your $30/month provides meaningful, ongoing support toward that student’s education, boarding, meals, and care, and this campaign is about making sure every unsponsored student gains their first personal sponsor. And remember, your role is about so much more than the monthly gift — the letters, encouragement, and connection you share tell a student that someone truly believes in them.
Can I sponsor as a family, classroom, or group?
Yes. Families, classrooms, church groups, teams, and businesses can all sponsor together. Full classroom sponsorships are also available.
What happens after I sign up?
You complete a short survey, Rising Star Outreach makes your match, and your welcome box and reveal card arrive within 5–7 business days. From there you receive quarterly correspondence, email access, and video-chat opportunities.
What if I can’t communicate as often as I’d like?
That’s completely okay — there’s no minimum and no pressure. Write and connect when you can, and don’t worry when life gets busy; your student is fully cared for either way. Your monthly support is what changes their life, whether or not you have time to write this month.
