DEAR MERIDIAN READERS,
We have spent time among the poor in many nations, but never have we been more moved than in a forgotten corner in Bihar, India where so many of the leprosy affected have been moved. To have leprosy is to be pained on many levels. Physically your body is gradually destroyed. In fear of contagion, your family may turn you out. You can’t get work, so existence is on the line. Culture tells them that they are being punished by God; they can feel unloved and divided from Him.
Rising Star has built a remarkable, award-winning school in southern India that has transformed the future for so many children of the leprosy-affected. Now, in northern India, in an even more difficult place, Rising Star is building another school for these children in an area once served by Mother Teresa’s volunteers. As Meridian readers, we have the immense privilege of participating in the funding of this school.
Please give generously, so we can reach our goal of $200,000. Not only will every dollar you donate go directly to this project, every dollar will be matched by a gracious donor, so your money goes twice as far.
Give the gift of education.
You can be part of the solution. Together, we can break the curse. Together, hope is rising.
