Our Program

Rising Star Outreach brings hope and dignity to children and families afflicted by leprosy in Southern India. Rising Star
Outreach Inc. is a 501(C)(3) non-profit charity dedicated to the eradication of leprosy and its resulting stigma.

      Our Four Initiatives

	1. Economic Rehabilitation through Micro-Grants Using proven micro-lending strategies, Rising Star fosters small business growth as an alternative to begging.  By providing meaningful employment to people living in leprosy colonies, the stigma attached to the disease is reduced.
	2. Medical Care through Mobile Medical Clinics Rising Star provides mobile clinics and partners with area hospitals to treat critical medical and related health issues for those suffering with the affects of leprosy. The clinics also provide hygiene training, vision care, and an aggressive screening  program to detect and treat new cases of the disease.
	3. Educating Children to become Productive Citizens Rising Star children’s homes and schools provide students a rigorous academic program that includes English, Science, and Computer Technology. Other programs deal directly with the causes of leprosy by teaching children and their families about proper hygiene, living skills and future self-reliance.
	4. Life-long Humanitarians by providing Service Opportunities to Volunteers  Every Rising Star volunteer has the opportunity to lift a life by giving positive service to a child and someone afflicted with leprosy. This service provides a foundation for continued humanitarian outreach of compassion and charity throughout a volunteer’s life.
