Summer 2016 Facilitators

Michelle Wood

With the youngest of her four children set to be a Junior at UVU, Michelle is very excited to now have the chance for her lifelong goals. She's always wanted to work with people who are less privileged than those in the United States, and help them become self sustaining. Rising Star's mission is all about bringing opportunities to those affected by leprosy in India, so she thinks that is a perfect match! Michelle loves to read thrillers, create jewelry, work outside in her yard, and hangout with her kids and one little awesome grandbaby. She grew up on the central coast of California but raised her children in Portland, Or. She loves both areas of the west coast. Having just finished a degree in Public Health in BYU-Provo and TA'd for a Migrant & Refugee Health class, she is hoping to use her degree to work with such groups in the near future.

Trent Benedick

Trent Benedick grew up in the San Francisco Bay area, enjoying the outdoors and the area's diverse population. He has played and coached soccer and lacrosse, mountain bikes, and is still perfecting surfing, and rock climbing. Trent is finishing up at Occidental College in Science and Math and plans on a career in Bioengineering. Through his friends and travel, he loves delving into the history, architecture, and especially food of different cultures. He has also enjoyed many hours spent working with and tutoring young children. He is looking forward to being at Rising Star Outreach; to work with the volunteers and help the children and those who are in need.

Haldey Evans

Hadley Evans was born and raised in Southern California, and is currently working on her BFA (bachelor in fine art) with an emphasis in photography and a minor in digital media at Utah Valley University. If she’s not in Utah for school she can be found anywhere there's an ocean! She loves hiking, swimming, exploring unfamiliar places and meeting new people. Hadley went to India two summers ago and hasn’t been able to forget the people and the experiences she has had since! She was inspired by the beautiful people, the colors and the scenery of India. She can't wait to let that translate into photographs this summer, which hopefully will be shared with many to show the good works Rising Star does. Hadley is so excited to get back there and to let her love for India grow and create new memories with everyone!
